Our cycling heroes

this weekend, 21 cyclists -teachers, parents and members of the local community- come together to cycle to Wembley to help raise money for our minipitch fund. We are incredibly proud that so many people used their passion of cycling to help support our campaign, giving up their weekends and raising sponsorship. 110 miles in blistering […]

Year 2 don’t drop litter!

Year 2 have been wrongly accused of dropping litter onto the KS2 playground. In fact, they were even going to lose their break time as a consequence, but they eloquently and articulately wrote amazingly persuasive letters to Mr Griffin explaining that it wasn’t them… it couldn’t have been! I was lucky to be able to […]

Brilliant writing boys!

This week, I have been so impressed with the sentence and story writing by some of the boys in RM. They have included a character, a setting, problem and a solution. They used their phonics knowledge very well too! I can’t believe I am teaching reception children! Great work, keep it up 👍

Wonderful writing

This week, I have been so impressed with the story writing by some of the girls in RM. They have included a character, a setting, problem and a solution. They used their phonics knowledge very well too! I can’t believe I am teaching reception children! Great work, keep it up 👍

Can lemons, potatoes and bread help run an electrical circuit?!

In Science, we have been looking at electricity! We had heard that there were other things such as citrus fruits and potatoes that could act as a cell in the circuit. We tried it, it didn’t seem to work. Some children thought it was because we used the wrong metal screws and coins, others thought […]

BREAKING NEWS!!

For the first time in Park Hill history two Year Two children have been given a pen licence. Take a look at their AMAZING work!

Copper Coin Race

Thank you all for the donations of Copper Coins at the end of last term to help support our funding for the mini-pitch. It has taken a lot of counting, but Mrs Plant and her ‘Plant’s Angels’ have been working around the clock (break and lunchtimes) to count every last coin. The final total is… […]

All weather pitch fund raising

Yesterday, we set up or ‘neighbourly’ page for our new all weather pitch (it’s similar to a ‘just giving’ page). Please use the link below and sign up and ‘follow’ us, as well as sharing it with your family and friends, as the higher our ‘activity score’, the more attractive we are to businesses and […]

Improving Rates of Progress

Whilst many of our children reach a good level by the time that they leave Park Hill at the end of Key Stage Two, our progress measures have highlighted that we need to focus harder. Our staff are all aware that this is a key priority at the school. We are striving to make ensure […]

School Improvement at Park Hill

Recently, when I was showing some new parents around the school, I was asked to explain further around the priorities for development currently. Whilst I am not frequently asked this questions by parents, I know that there are likely to be parents and carers who are interested in this – in learning more about the […]

School closed- Monday 11th December

Due to the snow, school will be closed tomorrow to ensure the safety of our children and staff. We hope the children are enjoying the weather!

Parking – Sign the petition!

The Governors and I are always trying to look for ways to make our school as safe as possible for children and families. Road Safety is high on the agenda. We have been liaising with Local Councilors to raise aware of road safety outside of school. Ward Cllrs we have also been approached by parents […]

Halloween fun

thank you to all of the children who entered the PTA pumpkin competition. Mrs Timms was extremely happy to see so many entries (and it even scared some of us every time we walked past!). The winners will be revealed in Friday’s star of the week assembly.

Staff Learning

On Wednesday evening, all of the teachers met to discuss writing at Park Hill. Together, we wanted to think about how we can help remove barriers for children and to help them to make as much progress as possible in their learning – especially with writing. It was a great opportunity for staff to share […]

Learning Walk

Yesterday morning, it was good to walk around the school and visit the classrooms. Mrs King, Mr Lawrence and myself were interested in learning more about how the children are being supported to learn in their classroom. I was pleased to speak with the children and to know that when they are stuck and finding […]

Children’s Progress

It is fantastic to see some of our children’s work up on display in and around school. Over the summer, Mr Howkins – our School Site Officer, has been busy fixing around 70 wooden clipboards on the walls in different corridors. I am keen for the children to see their progress – whether this is […]

House PE kits

The children look amazing in their new PE kits… it’s great that the children can easily identify those in the same house as them and can compete against the others. 6F look awesome!

Reception

The Reception children are moving classrooms this year. The staff and the children have relocated in order to provide the new preschool with a large open plan space. This year, both reception classrooms will have their own separate classroom but a shared outdoor space. I think that their new spaces are excellent and even better […]

Great Fire of London

It was great to visit the Year 1 children this afternoon as they settled to some artwork. Their new topic is ‘The Great Fire of London’ and as part of this, they will draw and paint some ‘tall buildings’. I am looking forward to seeing these masterpieces Year 1.

Friday Lunchtime

I think that I speak for so many children when I say that Friday lunchtime has to be the best! Every Friday, the most popular choice among the children  is Pizza! We usually have 2 members of staff on lunchtime duty but on a Friday there are about 5 – I wonder why this is? […]

Our Amazing New Preschool

Over the last two months, the staff have been unbelievably busy creating a brand new Preschool at Park Hill Primary School. I am so proud of how hard they have worked and just what fabulous learning spaces that they have created.

School Uniform

It was fantastic to welcome the children back into school this morning – they all looked fabulously smart in their new school uniform. I would like to thank you for your support of the changes to school uniform.
