Mini Pitch Project

As you are aware, parking around the school grounds can be problematic for our school community and the local residents.Today we received the attached, with information from the thelocal authority. They shared some details about a strategy that they are using involving an ANPR system. Hopefully this may help to alleviate some of the parking […]

Oaks have loved being so close to the diggers this week! We have talked about how the builders needed to get to our outdoor area to connect some pipes and the children loved having the digger so close to our room, even though it was a little bit loud at times! We can’t wait to […]

Day 9

Sorry for the delay in the updates, but the weather has been very poor. We’re pleased to say that this hasn’t prevented the builders from working! “Today we saw BIG progress with the mini-pitch. The fence posts are now in place and the pitch is now flat and mud free. The path towards the pitch has […]

Football Mad Teachers!

This evening’s staff training was hosted by Tom & Shaun from Sky Blues in the Community! With the arrival of the Mini Pitch drawing nearer, we thought we better brush up on some of our football skills and some didn’t disappoint! All members off staff got stuck in and showed great flair with the ball […]

Day 4

Today, Henry, Archie and Arthur went to check on the progress and took these amazing photographs. I can see a JCB, steam roller and a huge black pipe. They are making the pitch very smooth today so you don’t fall over when you play on it. The man has to be careful driving the digger […]

Mini Pitch!

Oaks have loved watching the mini pitch developments this week! We have talked about what the diggers were doing and how the pitch is being made. We especially enjoyed watching the digger trying to get onto the big lorry today – Henry and Freya thought it was very funny when it kept on slipping back […]

Day 3

Today it’s raining and cold. More matting arrived as lots of the tractors are slipping heavily so they need more grip. The builders are cutting silvery-grey curbstones with a disc cutter and are marking out the pitch. It still looks a mess, but hopefully it will look better soon! By Karta and Osheay in 3R

Day 2

Today we went onto the great, green field that was full of diggers and heavy machinery. The have already dug some of the field up in the rectangular shape of the new mini-pitch. The big, silver fences make the field look like a mini prison. There were piles of gravel to fill the empty spaces, […]

Day 1

Whilst the site is being secured, we are unable to take any children onto the field to see what has happened so far. We hope to take a few children on Wednesday. Here are a few photographs to show you the start of the project this morning

Before the build…

As part of the mini-pitch project, a group of children will be writing updates via this Blog and taking photographs to see the progress. Before the work starts, Alfie and Alfie in Year 6 visited the field for the last time and took some photographs on a beautiful autumnal day and wrote the following…   […]
