Welcome to Reception at Park Hill Primary School! We have two Reception classes RMT and RR. We are now in one large classroom, we will work very closely together and ‘free-flow’ across the two class. Along with enjoying our shared outdoor area during the day.

Reception is such an important year for developing basic reading, writing and mathematical skills alongside our personal, social and communication skills. We use a variety of teacher led and child initiated activities to enable children to develop their love of learning through exploration and creativity. We use the indoor and outdoor environments to access the 7 areas of learning.

Our aim is to help the children to become passionate and enthusiastic learners and equip them with skills that they will build upon throughout their school lives. Reception really is the best place to be…please excuse any mud or paint on our clothes!

We hope your child enjoys Reception as much as we will. For more information, please look at our Reception blog.

Every morning there will be a member of staff at the door to welcome your child into school, and will be available to answer any questions or queries. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss anything further, please contact the school office.

Anna McBride

Hiya, my name is Anna McBride. I have been a teacher for 14 years and have always worked at Park Hill Primary. I am an Early Years teacher and previously worked as a nursery nurse. I am a married mum to one beautiful little girl and enjoy spending quality time with my family.

I am passionate about developing a love for learning in the very youngest children that will last them for a life time. I have high expectations of the children in my care and support them in making progress into independent learners.

I use play as a basis for learning and believe all children learn best if they take part in practical activity. I encourage close relationships with parents and carers and like to work as a team to get the best for each individual child.

Mrs Rosser

Hello, my name is Mrs Rosser and this is my fifth year at Park Hill Primary School.  I have worked in both the EYFS and KS1.  I love being creative – in my spare time I play the piano and drums, complete art projects and enjoy going out for long walks.
I discovered my love for teaching while I was at university studying Psychology.  I am passionate about making learning fun and love to encourage creativity.  I believe that if you set high expectations and build up a child’s self esteem, along with creating a safe environment, children will be able to achieve their full potential.

World Book Day -The Tiger that came to Tea

The children in 5D had great fun reading The Tiger that came to a Tea. They read it and discussed how to share it with our youngest children at Park Hill School. They loved sewing and making puppets and helping to prepare activities for the little ones to enjoy. They practiced using intonation and sound […]

Benin Masks 5D

The children developed their craft skills by designing and making these African masks based on the artefacts found from the ancient civilisation of Benin. They drew and cut out the pieces carefully and then painted them with ‘earthy’ colours. 1+
