WELCOME TO OUR...

RECEPTION

Welcome to Reception at Park Hill Primary School! We have two Reception classes RHM and RM. Although we are now in two different classrooms, we will work very closely together and ‘free-flow’ across the two classrooms and our shared outdoor area during the day.

Reception is such an important year for developing basic reading, writing and mathematical skills alongside our personal, social and communication skills. We use a variety of teacher led and child initiated activities to enable children to develop their love of learning through exploration and creativity. We use the indoor and outdoor environments to access the 7 areas of learning.

Our aim is to help the children to become passionate and enthusiastic learners and equip them with skills that they will build upon throughout their school lives. Reception really is the best place to be…please excuse any mud or paint on our clothes!

We hope your child enjoys Reception as much as we will. For more information, please look at our Reception blog.

Every morning there will be a member of staff at the door to welcome your child into school, and will be available to answer any questions or queries. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss anything further, please contact the school office.

OUR CURRICULUM

OUR TEACHERS

Anna McBride

Hiya, my name is Anna McBride. I have been a teacher for 13 years and have always worked at Park Hill Primary. I am an Early Years teacher and previously worked as a nursery nurse. I am a married mum to one beautiful little girl and enjoy spending quality time with my family.

I am passionate about developing a love for learning in the very youngest children that will last them for a life time. I have high expectations of the children in my care and support them in making progress into independent learners.

I use play as a basis for learning and believe all children learn best if they take part in practical activity. I encourage close relationships with parents and carers and like to work as a team to get the best for each individual child.

Melanie Hisketh

Hi. My name is Mel Hiskett. I joined the Park Hill Team in January 2018. This year I will be teaching in Reception on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Previous to this I have taught across Solihull and Birmingham and have 18 years’ experience of working in Early Years.

I am passionate about young children learning through play with quality experiences and interactions both inside and outside. I hope to foster a lifelong love of learning. I relish the challenge to make each day count!

When not in school I like to spend time with my family and especially like travelling. I also enjoy tennis, gardening and reading.

Miss Moxom

Hi, my name is Miss Moxom and I am the RM class teacher. This is my third year working at Park Hill and my first year in Reception, which I am really looking forward to!
