Welcome to Year Six. Mr Freeman, Mr Lawrence and Mrs Petros are the Year Six teachers and they will be supported by Mrs Bruck and Mrs Chebbi.

We hope that the children will have a fantastic last year where life-long memories will be made. Our aim is for children to reach their full potential in a fun and engaging atmosphere. We hope that children will develop their independent and organisational skills further. We expect children to be responsible for their learning and be motivated to learn. We endeavour to provide a relevant and challenging curriculum which will enable them to build on their learning.

This is an important year for the children as it is their last year in Primary school before moving into Secondary School. During the year, children will be developing their skills in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. In the Summer Term, pupils are formally assessed in these areas, and parental support is really beneficial to help your child to meet their full potential. We hope that your children enjoy Year 6 as much as we do!

We hope your child enjoys Year 6 as much as we will. For more information, please look at our Year 6 blog.

Every morning there will be a member of staff at the door to welcome your child into school, and will be available to answer any questions or queries. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss anything further, please contact the school office.

At Park Hill Primary School, we are passionate about the curriculum and always plan imaginative and creative lessons, with the children at the centre of every decision we make. We want the best for our children, and ensure all lessons are suitably supportive and challenging for all individuals and their needs.

We like the children to be responsible for their own learning, and support them to choose work that will challenge their understanding and extend their knowledge.

Please find our curriculum jigsaw here to see what topics we will cover over the Autumn term. Autumn Term 1

Mr Freeman

Hello, my name is Mr Freeman, I am now going into my third year at Park Hill, and am looking forward to another exciting year. I have loved my time here so far; I feel proud to work for such a fantastic school with such bright, confident and enthusiastic children. I have worked in Year 6 throughout my time here, and really enjoy working with the children through the challenges and exciting opportunities of their final year at Park Hill.

I have a real passion for sport, particularly football, and as many of the children know, support West Bromwich Albion. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family.

Mrs Petros

I am Mrs Petros and I am now I my third year of teaching at Park Hill.

I am very excited to have moved from Year Two to Year Six. I have been teaching now for over 15 years and I have worked in a variety of schools and special needs settings. Having taught in both KS1  and KS2 I have seen how children progress on their journey in a primary school from beginning to end.
I am passionate about delivering our Year Six curriculum this year and cannot wait to embark on our new reading venture, because I adore reading and believe it opens children up to exciting new adventures, amazing worlds and  knowledge to improve children’s understanding of the world around them. I will be running ‘Park Hill Books Worms’ this year to enrich our teaching of reading across the upper phase, starting with the book ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’.
Park Hill is on a wonderful journey with its curriculum and I am pleased and privileged to be part of that.

Mr Lawrence
