Hello and welcome to Year 2. We have a team of dedicated, experienced and highly motivated staff including Miss Norcliffe, Mrs Petros and Miss Pollard who are class teachers and Mrs McKinnell and Mrs Ison who are teaching assistants.

In Year 2 we strive to make all children feel safe, secure and confident both in their learning and in their school life. We look forward to sharing our creative curriculum with the children including our topics which are Explorers, Kenya and Toys.

Through our Read, Write, Inc. programme we will continue to support the children’s phonic knowledge in order to create a smooth transition from Year 1 and prepare the children for their end of year SATS.

We want our children to leave Year 2 feeling independent, motivated and have high expectations. We aim to achieve this through a curriculum that includes challenge, variety and that the children find fun.

We hope your child enjoys Year 2 as much as we will. For more information, please look at our Year 2 blog.

Every morning there will be a member of staff at the door to welcome your child into school, and will be available to answer any questions or queries. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss anything further, please contact the school office.

At Park Hill Primary School, we are passionate about the curriculum and always plan imaginative and creative lessons, with the children at the centre of every decision we make. We want the best for our children, and ensure all lessons are suitably supportive and challenging for all individuals and their needs.

We like the children to be responsible for their own learning, and support them to choose work that will challenge their understanding and extend their knowledge.

Please find our curriculum jigsaw here to see what topics we will cover over the Autumn term. Autumn Term 1

Miss Norcliffe

I am really excited to begin my fourth year at Park Hill School. This year I am really pleased to be working with children both in Reception and Key Stage One.

I am really enjoying the exciting journey the school is on and the fantastic changes that are continuing to take place. Within school I have a passion for phonics and enjoy supporting children in their early stages of learning how to read and write.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two children, often doing something active such as a trip to the park or swimming. I enjoy cooking and listening to a variety of music.
I am looking forward to working with you all this year.

Miss Pollard

Hello, I am Miss Pollard and this is my second year at Park Hill teaching Year 2. I feel very lucky to be working at such a positive school alongside other enthusiastic and dedicated staff members. I am looking forward to witnessing the many new and exciting changes within the school and am excited to aid my new class with their own special learning journeys.

My favourite subject is Art and I enjoy being creative, both in school and out. I also enjoy baking, swimming and going to the theatre.

Mrs Petros

I am Mrs Petros and I have recently joined Parkhill in Year 2. I have 13 years experience teaching children across of different ages from 3 to 11. Teaching is my passion and I thoroughly enjoy planning and delivering creative, exciting and fun lessons in all subjects.

I really thrive on making Maths lessons fun and interesting, while my specialism in teaching children with Autism has taught me how important a positive learning environment is for all children. So far I have really enjoyed being part of the Parkhill team and look forward to what the future holds!’

KS1’s Victorian Week

Welcome to KS1’s Victorian Week. Teachers is Victorian Times were very serious…. as you can see! This morning in addition to our run, we have completed some ‘drills’. This is what Victorian children would have done for PE. We have learnt all about what Victorian school life was like and are really excited for the […]

Animals and habitats

Year 2 have had a really fun day looking at different animal groups and world habitats. In pairs we chose a habitat that we wanted to learn more about, and have spent the day using laptops, book and fact sheets to research lots of information. Tomorrow we will be creating our own information posters!

Animal Man

Year 2 really enjoyed having the Animal Man (lady) in to visit on Friday. We were all really brave and touched/stroked/cuddled all of the animals.
