WELCOME TO OUR...

YEAR TWO

Hello and welcome to Year 2.

In Year 2 we strive to make all children feel safe, secure and confident both in their learning and in their school life. We look forward to sharing our creative curriculum with the children including our topic ‘Explorers’ which will be taught through humanities, covering mini topics such as Antartica, Kenya and Australia. Throughout this topic we will also learn about the United Kingdom and study the world map.

Through our Read, Write, Inc. programme we will continue to support the children’s phonic knowledge in order to create a smooth transition from Year 1 and prepare the children for their end of year SATS.

We want our children to leave Year 2 feeling independent, motivated and have high expectations. We aim to achieve this through a curriculum that includes challenge, variety and that the children find fun.

We hope your child enjoys Year 2 as much as we will. For more information, please look at our Year 2 blog.

Every morning there will be a member of staff at the door to welcome your child into school, and will be available to answer any questions or queries. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s class teacher to discuss anything further, please contact the school office.

OUR CURRICULUM

At Park Hill Primary School, we are passionate about the curriculum and always plan imaginative and creative lessons, with the children at the centre of every decision we make. We want the best for our children, and ensure all lessons are suitably supportive and challenging for all individuals and their needs.

We like the children to be responsible for their own learning, and support them to choose work that will challenge their understanding and extend their knowledge.

Please find our curriculum jigsaw here to see what topics we will cover over the Autumn term. Autumn Term 1
